The Final Tally

I didn't make it. I fell asleep at about 3am. This was the final tally.

I didn't make it. I fell asleep at about 3am. I think that's about when I ran out of steam last time, too.

This was the final tally.

A Cuteness Break

Franny and Piglet

See that white bit under Franny's cheek? That's Piglet's paw. He had one arm under head, with a paw on either side of it. I am dead of cute.

Pictures of Hollis Woods was excellent. I love Patricia Reilly Giff. It made me cry so hard my head hurts, though, so I'm going to switch gears and read about Ramona's shenanigans.

Ball Obsessed

Frances

Somewhere, Frances had a tennis ball stashed. She's been whining and crying at me, wanting me to throw it. No, ma'am.

The Answer

Brownies

Whatever the question, I'm pretty sure brownies is the answer. Homemade and warm and gooey.

Greening

Spring

Everything is turning pale green. The trees are pretty, but they are trying to kill me. Tree pollen has been off the charts.

7"

7"

I have no idea why someone wrote 7" with a little X marks the spot, in the corner of one of the library stairwells. I walk by it every day, and it perplexes me.

This evening is all about making biscuits. Also making lentils and brown rice, but the biscuits are the what's making me happy.

Is There an Editor in the House?

Agatha Raisin 1

Agatha Raisin 2

Agatha Raisin 3

Agatha Raisin 4

Agatha Raisin 5

This book was clearly converted from paper to text via OCR. You can tell by the lack of spacing in passages of dialogue, making it seem as if the characters are talking to themselves, and by the peculiar substitution of Em and Ell for I'm and I'll, and alsoplustoo by the frequent instances where multiple words are run together.

Normally, you'd expect a human editor to clean up that mess.  But you might also expect a human editor to have caught the misuse of "their" in the print version that the digital copy was made from. In both cases, you would be WRONG.

And this was not a 99 cent special from Bob's Backyard DIY Publishing Shack, either. I paid $6.00 for that load of crap, which was published by St. Martin's Press.

Carrots for the Dog's Treat Ball

I got Frances the StarMark Treat Ball a few months ago. She loves it, and it's held up really well. And it's soft jelly plastic, so it's really quiet. I usually stuff it with a few puppy sized dog biscuits, but today, she'd already had as many of those as I thought she should. What to do? I sliced up some chunks of carrot, stuffed them in the treat ball, and gave it to her. It was a big hit!

Franny vs. the Butterfly Bush

Frances loves sticks. I don't normally want her to play with sticks, onna counta YOU'LL PUT YOUR EYE OUT. Also she is missing a couple of teeth, and I don't want her damaging the ones she has left or worse, swallowing a piece of stick and poking a hole in her GI tract. So many worries! Franny does not care, though, about any of that. She just wants to play with sticks. Imagine the expression on her face when she realized that there was a stick bush in her yard. It was epic, yo. And then she promptly commenced to destroying it. Like ya' do.

The butterfly bush was in desperate need of pruning, so all's well that ends well.

Piglet Iz on Teh Tweeter

So. It came to my attention that the Twitter handle PigTweetz was not taken. SHOCKING! That had to be rectified, tout de effin' suite, which means that Piglet has been given the keys to his very own Twitter account.

The Garden

Wild Rose

I'm not sure exactly what this is. Some kind of wild rose. I don't think it's multiflora, though. It volunteered last year and seems to be thriving.

Sedum

The sedum is not dead, either. Yay!

Violets

Happy violets in the back field are happy. Doves are nesting in the for tree by my patio and cooing their little hearts out. Little brown birds are everywhere. My irises and surprise lilies are poking up from the ground, too. It's Spring!

Actually, more like stormy. We've had intermittent thunder and lightning since last night, and it doesn't look like it's going to stop any time soon. It's wet out there, yo. Wet and LOUD.
